THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF MARTIN COUNTY
At the Historical Society of Martin County, we believe the past helps to define our present and future. History is our passion.
Whether you are a seasonal or full-time resident, or simply visiting our area, we’re here to help you explore the exciting story of Martin County, from its early inhabitants like the Ais Indians to the seafarers whose bounty defines the origin of the “Treasure Coast.”
The Historical Society of Martin County preserves and interprets over 200 years of Martin County history. We own and operate the Elliott Museum, which displays and maintains one of the most comprehensive collections of Americana and vintage vehicles in the region. We also work closely with Martin County, which owns and maintains the House of Refuge, to provide curator and management services for this historically valuable site.
We’re here to serve you: to answer questions about area history; provide you with research access to our comprehensive archives; and offer an interesting and varied slate of educational programming, exhibits and workshops.
The Historical Society of Martin County is a private, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization. We rely on the generosity of our donors, members and volunteers to bring history alive for today’s generation.
We invite you to join us! Become a member today, and enjoy valuable benefits, including discounts, free admission and advance notice of special events. We look forward to seeing you soon!
